NECK PAIN

CAUSES & TREATMENT

Neck pain can have many causes. In most cases, it is caused by weak neck and back muscles and a lack of exercise, which lead to muscle tension and poor spinal posture. Degenerative changes may indicate overloading of the small vertebral joints or be associated with a herniated disc or spinal stenosis.

All these changes lead to inflammatory processes that trigger pain. If treatment with appropriate anti-inflammatory and, consequently, pain-relieving medication does not lead to improvement, special injection techniques and accompanying physiotherapy are used. More information here.

NECK PAIN AS A SYMPTOM OF SPINAL CANAL STENOSIS

However, neck pain can also be a sign of a herniated disc or existing spinal canal stenosis in the cervical spine, particularly if it is accompanied by radiating pain and sensory disturbances in the arms and fingers. Advanced narrowing of the spinal canal in the cervical spine also frequently causes unsteadiness when walking with a tendency to fall, symptoms of dizziness and sensory disturbances similar to those seen in polyneuropathy.
