POOR CONTROL OF URINATION

CAUSES & TREATMENT

The most common cause of loss of bladder control is a urinary tract infection, which is characterised by a burning sensation. The second most common cause is pelvic floor weakness in women and an enlarged prostate in men. Both conditions can lead to loss of bladder control.

However, loss of bladder control can also occur without pain (burning sensation) in cases of severe narrowing of the spinal canal in the cervical spine or, even more commonly, in the lumbar spine.
In rare cases, normal-pressure hydrocephalus can also be the cause of loss of bladder control in older people.
