Like neck pain, lower back pain can have many causes. In most cases, it is caused by muscle tension and poor spinal posture, which are triggered by weak back muscles and a lack of exercise. As we age, signs of wear and tear develop in the spine, such as overload syndrome of the small vertebral joints, narrowing of the spinal canal and, occasionally, a slipped disc. All these changes lead to inflammatory processes, which in turn cause pain.
Lower back pain caused by the signs of wear and tear mentioned above can, in most cases, be effectively managed without surgery.
If treatment with appropriate anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving medication does not lead to improvement, special injection techniques and accompanying physiotherapy are used. If this still does not achieve the desired result, we perform a minimally invasive procedure.

SPINAL CANAL STENOSIS OR SCIATICA AS COMMON CAUSES
However, lower back pain can also be a sign of spinal stenosis. If the lower back pain worsens when walking – sometimes accompanied by a burning sensation or pain in the legs – and sitting provides relief, spinal stenosis is very likely to be the cause.
The resulting back pain can, in cases where the narrowing is not yet complete, be treated initially with a non-surgical method. What is complete narrowing of the spinal canal?
Sciatica (sudden shooting pains radiating from the back into a leg) is usually caused by a slipped disc. If paralysis is present (e.g. weakness in the foot), a rapid assessment should be carried out. This is because paralysis can become permanent if the trapped nerve is not released within 3 months.
