What do I mean by holistic neurosurgery?
I adhere to these fundamental principles, which are applied in all aspects of my practice:
- Holistic Treatment
The individual must be viewed as a whole so that the treatment can be effective in its entirety. To achieve this, it is necessary to gain a thorough understanding of the symptoms and treat them on three levels. How exactly do I do this? I consider the following levels: the psyche/soul, the social environment and the body.
Supporting the journey to independence
The role of holistic neurosurgery is to support patients when they experience increasing uncertainty and anxiety whilst walking. - Medical care
By medical care, I mean personalised support throughout the entire course of treatment – from the initial consultation to the conclusion of treatment. - The inner doctor
The emotional/psychological components of the healing process should not be underestimated. Albert Schweitzer himself spoke of an ‘inner doctor’ within every person, meaning that every person possesses incredible self-healing powers, of which very few people are aware. We utilise this capacity for self-healing throughout our entire treatment process and strive to activate it. - Self-determination
To enable holistic therapy, the relationship between patient and doctor must be based on equality. Only when I live a self-determined life and make my own decisions about my life do I feel fulfilled and like a fully-fledged human being.
